At EtherClear, we would like to be completely clear about what we mean when we say 'Fully Managed Hosting' or 'Fully Managed Service'. At EtherClear, we call our fully managed services 'EtherClear 100% Managed’, so what does this mean, and how does it affect you?
The EtherClear 100% Managed Experience
We know that a lot of 'managed hosting' providers supply a 'management package' with their services. These packages tend to be along the lines of 'if you tell us that something broken, or needs updating we will help you do it’. We think that this is a semi-managed service.
It is not proactive, and the customer still has to know how the basic parts of their server work to know they need some work done. With our service, your only concern is building and updating your website; we take care of all of the complicated software and hardware needed to make your website work. So essentially, that your experience is similar to shared hosting, but with lots more power, no shared resources, and configuration perfect for your needs.
So what do we take care of?
* Monitoring - We run a dual system with Nagios internally and Wormly.com externally.
* Backups - FTP or R1soft CDP, R1soft is £2/GB/mo FTP is £1/GB/mo, we highly recommend R1soft CDP for total data security.
* Updates - Monthly planned maintenance windows, or more frequent as agreed in your package.
* Configuration - We set it all up for you, and make any changes if you need them later.
* Software - let us know what you need and we will get it all installed for you.
